What to pack for the Fjällräven Classic?

As part of the “Women On The Trail” trip of Fjällräven and HANWAG in the summer of 2017, Anna from team HANWAG joined a group of 15 women from all over the world doing the Fjällräven Classic in Sweden for the very first time. The women hiked 110 km from Nikkaluokta to Abisko, partly following the Kungsleden (The King’s Trail). For Anna it was the first multi-day tour staying in a tent and not in the traditional huts you find in the alps.

Based on the experiences of the colleagues from Fjällräven we’ve created a packing list for the Fjällräven Classic which can easily be adapted for any other multi-day trek with staying in a tent.

Here’s the check-list:

  • Passport and travel documents
  • Sunglasses and sun protection
  • Trekking socks (2 thicker and 2 lighter pairs)
  • Trekking shoes
  • A change of lightweight shoes or flip flops / sandals to give your feet a break
  • Extra shirt, tights or shorts and socks to sleep in
  • Baselayer top and bottom – wool or synthetic
  • Underwear in a wool or synthetic material
  • Toiletry & personal equipment
  • Small trekking / microfiber towel
  • Bio-degradable outdoor-soap
  • Rain gear (jacket & trousers)
  • Trekking trousers (1 short and 1 long or 1 zip-off)
  • Trekking top (2 pcs)
  • Lightweight insulation jacket or vest
  • Fleece
  • Hat or cap

  • First aid kid (plus elastic bandage, blister pads, compresses and tape)
  • Map and magnetic compass
  • Matches and/or lighter
  • Small knife with scissors or a multi-tool

After hitting Globetrotter multiple times, most of the stuff was gathered. Anna’s HANWAG Tatra Lady GTX® were broken in after hiking Zugspitze via Reintal the weekend before the big trip and Anna was fit and well prepared.
