Tyrolean wool producer Gottstein meets Bavarian shoemaker Hanwag. These two brands go back more than 100 years and are launching a joint collection. The Hanwag by Gottstein cabin loafers marry functionality and comfort with sustainability and traditional craftsmanship. They would make the perfect Christmas gift.
Family-owned Gottstein has been crafting high-quality wool since 1926. Known for its expertise in boiling and felting wool, the company’s collaborating with Hanwag on two new hut shoes models called the Cabin Loafer and Loafer Comfort. Both come in the finest wool – and with a foot-pampering guarantee.
Both models are made in the Gottstein workshops at the heart of the Tyrol. The Tyrolean company only uses natural materials to make their high-quality, sustainable felt slippers. The pure mountain water, used for felting and boiling the wool, also helps achieve such high quality.
Hanwag from Vierkirchen in Bavaria equally stands for top quality, traditional craftsmanship and natural materials. Founded in 1921, Hanwag is a fit specialist. Alongside its tried-and-test standard fit, its special lasts offer wearers of their hiking, trekking and mountain boots bespoke comfort with every step.
Consequently, the collaboration of these two established companies is also a good match. The Hanwag by Gottstein cabin loafers will be in retail outlets and online from autumn 2024.
Wool is multitalented and ideal as a functional fabric. Inherently breathable, virgin wool regulates body temperatures. It keeps wearers warm and wicks away moisture. What’s more, wool neutralises unpleasant odours. If virgin wool stems from European sheep, it’s exceptionally sustainable because shipping routes are short. It also helps to maintain cultural traditions, just like those in the Tyrolean Alps. Pure wool is long lasting, biodegradable and recyclable.
The Cabin Loafer is ideal for tired feet after a long hike. It’s made of 100% virgin wool. The yarn’s hardwearing, regulates moisture and heat to keep feet comfortable and toasty warm. A fine-knit border softly embraces feet while the non-slip, waterproof natural latex sole provides plenty of grip. It’s an ideal loafer for mountain huts’ frequently slippery terraces. The Cabin Loafer has a practical fabric loop to attach it to a backpack.
When you’ve returned from your adventures, just slip into these cosy cabin loafers. The Loafer Comfort cossets your feet after a winter walk or a day on the ski slopes. The wool blend is breathable, odour neutralising and keeps the heat in. The hydrophobic Perwanger leather sole keeps water out and makes the loafer last and last.
