A lightweight, sturdy all-rounder for demanding alpine tours – and crampon compatibility. With PU in the heel for perfect cushioning, and EVA at the forefoot for greater precision.

The Makra Pro GTX is ideal for demanding alpine tours with glacier crossings and also easier summer high-alpine tours and rock routes. The lightweight, sturdy all-rounder has a lightweight, waterproof GORE-TEX membrane and a long-lasting dura- ble Perwanger leather upper. For the lightweight, yet particularly stable midsole, we use a combination of PU, TPU and EVA. PU at the heel for perfect cushioning – an integrated TPU crampon welt for secure attachment – and EVA at the forefoot for greater precision. The Vibram® Makra outsole ensures excellent grip. The ‘Hanwag 2 Zone Lock’ with mechanical lace lock im- proves the fit at the heel. Unlike conventional clamping lace hooks, the mechanical lace lock remains fixed in place and can- not slip unless manually adjusted. The optimised ghilly lacing is a distinctive feature of the Makra family – it runs through textile loops right down into the toe area. This ensures a secure fit around the front of the foot, and good overall stability for a mid-cut model. And the Alpine Wide Last ensures more room at the forefoot for greater comfort, without sacrificing precision and climbing performance.

Alpine Wide Last: HANWAG Alpine models generally have a slightly narrower fit, due to the technical requirements. However, the Alpine Wide Last ensures more room at the forefoot for greater comfort, without sacrificing precision and climbing performance.

Heel welt: The heel welt makes it easier to attach semi-automatic crampons. The robust TPU welt and is integrated into the heel section.

2 Zone Lock: The ‘HANWAG 2 Zone Lock’ with mechanical lace lock improves the fit at the heel. Unlike conventional clamping lace hooks, the mechanical lace lock remains reliably fixed in place and cannot slip unless manually adjusted.

A MAKRA FOR ALL SITUATIONS

The HANWAG Makra Family is growing and welcoming further new members. From Summer 2023 it contains three new models. There is a Makra to cover all areas of alpine activity from demanding alpine hikes to tours with via ferratas. The product family forms now links the HANWAG ‘Trek’ and ‘Rock’ categories. What do all models have in common? Their unique fit.

Rugged rock walls, luscious valleys and jagged ridges – the Alps are full of extreme contrasts and extraordinary biodiversity. Mountain areas cover some ten per cent of the planet and provide a home to a quarter of all living animal species. Anyone choosing to make their way ‘up there’ needs one thing above all else – perfectly-fitting footwear that will cope with the wide variety of landscapes and terrain. At the same time, the mountain boots and shoes that we wear in demanding terrain still need to allow a good ‘feel’ for the ground underfoot. And another thing: To make sure that the walk-in and hike out are comfortable and to allow longer passages of trekking, the construction needs to offer good cushioning and ensure a smooth roll-off performance. The evergrowing HANWAG Makra Family offers a fitting, sporty solution for all types of alpine use.
