Back in the 1980s, Hanwag was one of the early pioneers of climbing shoe development, making dedicated rock shoes for climbers pushing the boundaries of the sport. Now the iconic Rotpunkt design is back – in a modern reinterpretation. The Hanwag Rotpunkt Light Low combines functional outdoor performance with a contemporary, retro-inspired design that delivers both on urban paths and on easy hiking trails.
When it comes to colourways, the Hanwag Rotpunkt Light Low knows no limits. It blends subtle unisex colours and pastel tones with special colour accents. The Rotpunkt Light Low is a versatile and multinational shoe – available either with or without a GORE-TEX membrane. Thanks to its particularly lightweight HANWAG Hike Light rubber outsole, which ensures excellent grip, this is footwear equipped for both urban and outdoor adventures.
The hybrid-look, high-quality leather upper with additional PU microfibre inserts offer robust and hard-wearing performance. And its high construction guarantees especially good heel retention. Practical detail: the fabric loop at the back of the cuff makes it easier to slip the boot on and off or secure to a backpack with a carabiner.
50 YEARS OF ROTPUNKT – THE REDPOINT CLIMBING REVOLUTION CELEBRATES ITS ANNIVERSARY
It’s exactly 50 years since Kurt Albert revolutionized the sport of climbing by inventing the redpoint technique. Once he was able to climb an entire route free (without using ‘aid’, i.e. without pulling on pitons or using foot ladders) he would paint a red circle at the base – a redpoint or Rotpunkt. Kurt Albert was just one of the climbing legends, along with others such as Heinz Zak and Sepp Gschwendtner, who helped shape the sport wearing Hanwag rock shoes. This is the free spirit that lives on in the Hanwag Rotpunkt Light Low today. Inspired by the iconic design of the 1980s, this low-cut boot comes with a lightweight construction, outstanding grip and superb heel retention – perfect for outdoor adventures and everyday urban use.
100% Made in Europe – The Rotpunkt Light Low is made in Europe, the same as all Hanwag footwear. This makes it possible to closely monitor and guarantee extremely high quality standards. In addition, the short transport distances between production sites and European retailers help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and cumulative energy consumption. Hanwag operates its own shoemaking factory in Hungary, and has long-standing partnerships with production facilities in other European countries, such as Croatia and Germany.
